Whop vs Stan Store: Which Is Better for Link-in-Bio Sellers?
MoveToWhop is independent and not affiliated with Whop, Inc. or any platform we cover. We may earn a referral commission from Whop when you create a Whop through our links. It never costs you anything, and it's how we keep migrations free. How we make money
Quick answer
Whop is cheaper than Stan Store for most sellers: it has no monthly plan and charges 2.7% + $0.30 per US card sale, while Stan costs $29 or $99 a month plus Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30. At $10,000 a month in sales, Whop saves you $49 against Stan's Creator plan and $119 against Creator Pro. Stan keeps an edge on Afterpay and Klarna costs and on very cheap products sold at high volume.

Pricing and fees: what you actually pay
In a Stan Store vs Whop decision, the monthly plan is usually the biggest cost difference. Stan charges a flat $29 or $99 a month and takes 0% of sales; Whop charges nothing monthly and earns on each payment. Both pass on card processing (Stan's fee article, Whop's fee page), and Whop's US card rate is 0.2 percentage points lower.

Worked example: a $25 monthly membership
With identical assumptions on both sides, Whop is cheaper at $1,000, $10,000 and $50,000 a month. We modeled a $25/month membership, US cards, monthly billing, no add-ons and no payout fees, which is how our fee calculator works.
Prices as of October 2026. Sources at the end of this page.
| Monthly sales | Members | Stan Creator | Stan Creator Pro | Whop | Whop saves (Creator / Pro) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | 40 | $75 | $145 | $44 | $31 / $101 |
| $10,000 | 400 | $489 | $559 | $440 | $49 / $119 |
| $50,000 | 2,000 | $2,329 | $2,399 | $2,200 | $129 / $199 |
Stan costs its plan price + 3.4% of sales + $0.30 per payment, and Whop costs 3.2% of sales + $0.30 per payment. Because the $0.30 is the same on both, Whop's saving is always the Stan plan price plus 0.2% of sales, whatever you charge. Model your own prices in the Whop and Stan fee calculator, and see the plan-by-plan Stan Store pricing breakdown for what each tier includes.
Costs the example leaves out
- Payout fees scale differently. Stan passes on Stripe's 0.25% + $0.25 per cash-out, while Whop lists $2.50 per next-day ACH payout. Cashing out about $9,500 in four weekly payouts costs roughly $25 on Stan and $10 on Whop.
- Whop lists a $0.07 Radar fraud-screening fee per transaction, plus $0.03 for 3D Secure when it's required. That adds up on cheap products sold at high volume (see the next section).
- Neither platform returns processing fees when you refund a sale, and both charge $15 per US chargeback.
- Tax works differently. Stan can calculate sales tax through Stripe Tax for creators in some countries, but you register, file and remit. Whop's optional Tax Service costs 2% per transaction when Whop collects. Our breakdown of Whop's fees lists every optional charge.
Where Stan's flat fee and Whop's percentage cross
Under the calculator's assumptions they never cross: Whop's per-sale rate is already lower, so Stan's monthly fee is an extra cost at any volume. Three situations can flip the result.
The first is very cheap products. Count Whop's $0.07 Radar fee and Whop costs more per sale on anything under $35, because $0.07 is more than 0.2% of the price. Stan's flat fee then wins once monthly sales pass a threshold:
Prices as of October 2026. Sources at the end of this page.
| Average price | Stan Creator is cheaper above | Stan Creator Pro is cheaper above |
|---|---|---|
| $5 | $2,417/mo (483 sales) | $8,250/mo (1,650 sales) |
| $10 | $5,800/mo (580 sales) | $19,800/mo (1,980 sales) |
| $20 | $19,333/mo (967 sales) | $66,000/mo (3,300 sales) |
| $25 | $36,250/mo (1,450 sales) | $123,750/mo (4,950 sales) |
The threshold equals the plan price divided by ($0.07 ÷ your price − 0.2%). That's why our $25 example above flips at $50,000 a month once Radar is counted: Whop's cost rises to $2,340, against $2,329 on Stan Creator. At $35 and above, Whop stays cheaper at any volume.
The second is tools you'd otherwise pay for. Creator Pro bundles email broadcasts and flows, funnels and ad pixels into its $99 price. If your Whop setup needs a paid add-on to cover something you use on Creator Pro, add that monthly price to the Whop column; if it comes to more than the $101 to $199 a month Whop saves against Creator Pro in our example, Creator Pro is the cheaper bundle.
The third is buy now, pay later. Klarna on a $500 coaching package costs about $30 on Creator Pro (5.99% + $0.30) and $75 through Whop's financing (15%). If a large share of your revenue is financed, that gap can outweigh the plan fee.
Storefront and checkout
Both give you a hosted storefront and checkout. Stan keeps everything on one mobile page with fixed limits, while Whop adds more payment methods and checkout tools at $0 a month.
Stan gives you one mobile-first storefront at stan.store/yourname that holds every product and its checkout, built for followers arriving from Instagram and TikTok. The limits are fixed: you can't use your own domain (only forward one to Stan), the whole store runs in one currency, and there's one login with no admin seats. Creator Pro adds funnels, order bumps, discount codes, limited-quantity offers, payment plans, Afterpay and Klarna.
On Whop, promo codes, upsells, order bumps, free trials, waitlists and tracking links come without a monthly fee, and Whop Websites, Whop's own site builder, hosts an ecommerce site with checkout at a whop.site address. Whop advertises 100+ payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, crypto and ACH, plus 135+ currencies, and you can add team members with preset or custom roles. Checkout links start with a $2,500 per-payment cap until Whop approves higher limits, which matters if you sell high-ticket coaching.
Courses and community
If the course or community is your main product rather than one tile in your store, Whop has more depth; if it's a small add-on to downloads and coaching calls, Stan's version is enough.
Stan's Creator plan includes unlimited courses with modules, lessons, drip release and progress tracking, plus a community product that members can open in Stan's iOS community app. Stan's help center doesn't document quizzes or certificates (October 2026).
Whop's Courses app covers lessons, video, quizzes and progress tracking, and you can attach Forums, Chat, Events (live, with optional paid tickets and built-in livestreaming), Files and 1:1 Calendar Bookings to the same product. Members and sellers get iOS and Android apps, while Stan's member app is iOS-only.
Marketing and growth tools
Both platforms bundle marketing tools, but different ones, so list what you actually use before you compare.
AutoDM, Stan's Instagram automation, comes with both Stan plans. Creator Pro adds email broadcasts and flows with unlimited contacts and sends (manual imports are capped at 5,000 contacts per store), Meta, Google, TikTok and Pinterest pixels, and an affiliate share feature that lets customers resell your products.
Whop's growth tools include an affiliate program with a global rate you set (30% by default) plus member and custom affiliates, with a 1.25% processing fee on affiliate sales; the Discover marketplace, which has charged 0% commission since May 2025; and Whop Ads, a beta for running Meta campaigns from your Whop dashboard. Whop's docs didn't list an Instagram DM automation when we checked on October 3, 2026. If email or Instagram DMs drive your sales, check Whop's current tools against your Stan setup before you switch.
Payments and payouts
Whop gives you more control over when money moves; Stan's payout path is slower and fully manual.
Stan's card payments run through a Stripe Custom account that Stan creates and manages. You can't connect your existing Stripe account or log in at stripe.com, though you can add your own PayPal Business account. US Stripe sales settle in 2 to 7 business days, then you press Cash Out in the Income tab (minimum $10) and the money arrives within 24 to 48 hours. There are no automatic payouts, and because Stan isn't the merchant of record, tax registration and filing are yours.
Whop runs every payment through Whop Payments and says it is the merchant of record there. Funds become withdrawable 1 to 4 business days after a sale, and you can withdraw manually or schedule daily, weekly or automatic withdrawals (minimum $10); instant payouts arrive in minutes for 4% + $1.00. You'll complete identity and bank verification first, and Whop can hold a reserve on new or higher-risk accounts, for example 10% for 90 days.
Setup and switching
Stan is built for a fast start: one reviewer on r/Entrepreneur said setup took about 15 minutes. On Whop, plan for identity and bank verification before you can withdraw.
Moving from Stan to Whop has one hard constraint: your subscribers' cards stay with Stan, so they re-subscribe. Our free Stan-to-Whop migration wizard recreates products, prices and course outlines on Whop and gives each subscriber a free trial that ends on their next Stan renewal date. It doesn't move course videos or community posts.
When Stan Store is the better choice
Stan is the better pick if one of these describes you:
- Instagram drives your sales through AutoDM. Stan includes it on both plans; Whop's docs didn't list an Instagram DM automation when we checked, so confirm what you'd use instead before you move.
- Your revenue is modest and mostly recurring. Every Stan subscriber has to enter a card again on Whop, and at $1,000 a month the saving against Creator is about $31 a month, which may not be worth the risk of members dropping off.
- Financing closes your sales. Afterpay and Klarna cost 6.0% + $0.30 and 5.99% + $0.30 on Creator Pro, while Whop's financing costs 15% and requires $30,000 processed from 10+ customers in the last 90 days before you can offer it.
- You sell lots of products under $10 at high volume. Once you count Whop's $0.07 Radar fee, Stan Creator becomes cheaper above about $5,800 a month on $10 items.
When Whop is the better choice
Whop is the better pick in these cases:
- You're on Creator Pro mainly for discount codes, order bumps or payment flexibility. Whop includes promo codes, upsells and order bumps at $0 a month, which saves $101 to $199 a month in our example.
- Your membership, course or community is the business. Forums, chat, livestreamed events and course quizzes sit inside one product.
- You want payouts on a schedule. Daily, weekly or automatic withdrawals replace Stan's manual cash-outs.
- You sell internationally. Whop advertises 135+ currencies and 100+ payment methods, while Stan prices the whole store in one currency.
- You want distribution: the Discover marketplace at 0% commission and affiliates who can promote you across Whop.
Whop has real limitations too. You can't use your own Stripe account, so your processor relationship and payout timing depend on Whop's risk decisions. New accounts face identity checks, possible reserves and the $2,500 checkout cap, and financing costs 15% per sale once approved. In 2026, sellers on r/whop have described 90-day reserves and trouble reaching a human at support. A March 2026 analysis by RockWater described Whop's marketplace as driven by trading signals, sports-betting picks and crypto communities, so check whether buyers in your niche browse Discover before you count on it for sales. Our seller-side Whop review covers these complaints in more detail.
What creators say
Opinions on both platforms cluster around the same themes. These are anecdotes, chosen to show the common points on each side.
- A creator who tested Stan for an r/Entrepreneur post (February 2025) found setup took about 15 minutes and liked the flat-fee model and the human replies from support. The downsides they named were the $99 plan needed for pixel tracking and funnels, limited design control and the lack of a free plan.
- Stan scores 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot from about 2,200 reviews (checked October 2, 2026). Several of its 2026 one- and two-star reviews describe greyed-out cash-out buttons and balances stuck in processing.
- A fitness coach on r/smallbusiness (November 2025) went looking for another processor after hearing about withheld payments on Stan, wanting to take £300+ payments without holds.
- On r/whop, one seller described a 90-day reserve placed after about $20,000 in sales despite a 0% dispute rate (August 2026), and another said Whop's AI support wouldn't pass a fee question to a human (September 2026).
Switching from Stan Store to Whop
If you decide to move, sequence matters more than speed. Export an Income CSV for each product and your Customers list, rebuild products and courses on Whop, then invite members with claim links and cancel each Stan subscription as they join, because cancelling your Stan plan doesn't stop customer payments. The Stan Store to Whop migration guide walks through every step, and the member CSV converter turns Stan's export into a Whop-ready list in your browser.
If you're comparing more than two platforms, our Stan Store alternatives list ranks seven options by cost, Whop vs Gumroad covers the other big pay-per-sale store, and Kajabi vs Skool vs Whop is the course-first version of this question.
How we compared
We compared both platforms using their public pricing pages and help-center articles, checked on October 2 and 3, 2026. We didn't run paid test stores, so nothing on this page comes from a hands-on trial. Fee examples use identical assumptions for both platforms (US cards, monthly billing, no add-ons, payout fees excluded) and are rounded to whole dollars. A table row is marked as a win only where the difference is objective and sourced. Spotted something out of date? Email hello@movetowhop.com and we'll fix verified errors within 7 days.
Frequently asked questions
Is Whop better than Stan Store?
For paid memberships, courses and communities, usually yes: Whop has no monthly fee, a lower card rate, scheduled payouts and built-in forums, chat and livestreamed events. Stan can be the better fit when Instagram AutoDM drives your sales, when you rely on Afterpay or Klarna at Stripe's rates, or when moving would make many subscribers re-enter their cards for a small saving.
Stan Store vs Whop fees: which is cheaper?
Whop, in most cases. It has no monthly plan and charges 2.7% + $0.30 per US card sale, against Stan's $29 or $99 a month plus Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30. On a $25 membership bringing in $10,000 a month, that's $440 on Whop, $489 on Creator and $559 on Creator Pro. Very cheap products sold at high volume can flip the result once Whop's $0.07 Radar fee is counted.
Can I use Stan Store and Whop at the same time?
Yes. Nothing stops you from keeping Stan for Instagram AutoDM and quick digital downloads while you run a membership or community on Whop, with a Whop checkout link in your bio or store. You'd pay Stan's plan on top of Whop's per-sale fees, so the setup only makes sense while Stan's tools bring in more than the $29 or $99 a month they cost.
Does Whop have an Instagram AutoDM feature like Stan?
Whop's documentation didn't list one when we checked on October 3, 2026, and Whop adds features often, so confirm before you switch. Stan includes AutoDM, its Instagram automation, on both the Creator and Creator Pro plans. Whatever handles your Instagram replies after the move, point its links at your Whop checkout pages instead of stan.store.
Which pays out faster, Whop or Stan Store?
Whop gives you more options. Funds become withdrawable 1 to 4 business days after a sale, and you can set daily, weekly or automatic withdrawals or pay 4% + $1.00 for an instant payout. On Stan, US Stripe sales settle in 2 to 7 business days, then you press Cash Out yourself and wait 24 to 48 hours for the bank transfer.
Can I connect my own Stripe account to Whop or Stan Store?
Neither allows it. Stan has you open a new Stripe Custom account that it manages, and you can't log in to that account at stripe.com, though you can add your own PayPal Business account. Whop runs every payment through Whop Payments, including PayPal at 3.49% + $0.49, so your processor relationship sits with Whop rather than with you.
Is Whop or Stan Store better for selling a course?
Whop has more course features: quizzes and progress tracking, plus forums, chat and livestreamed events you can bundle with the course. Stan's course builder covers modules, lessons, drip release and progress tracking, and its help center doesn't document quizzes or certificates. Stan's version is enough when a course is one product among several in your store.
