Move from Kajabi to Whop: What Transfers and How to Switch

By MoveToWhopUpdated 10 min readPricing verified

MoveToWhop is independent and not affiliated with Whop, Inc. or any platform we cover. We may earn a referral commission from Whop when you create a Whop through our links. It never costs you anything, and it's how we keep migrations free. How we make money

Quick answer

Kajabi's contact, subscription and offer exports feed our free wizard, which rebuilds your offers as Whop products and your course outline as Whop Courses; you re-upload or embed the videos. Members billed through your own Stripe move with Whop Migrations, renewal dates intact; Kajabi Payments members re-subscribe, with a free trial timed to their next renewal. At $10,000 a month, Whop's fees run about $381 against $660 on Kajabi Growth.

What moves

Kajabi to Whop at a glance

This is what the free migration tool does for Kajabi today. Rows marked Guided or From your export need some input from you: a confirmation in the wizard or the file Kajabi gives you.

  • Products & pricing

    Moves

You confirm your products and prices in the wizard (prefilled where we can). We create matching Whop products and pricing plans through Whop's official API.

  • Courses

    Moves

Paste or import your course outline and we create the chapters and lessons in Whop Courses. Video files don't transfer automatically: re-upload them in Whop or embed them from YouTube or Loom.

  • Members

    From export

Upload the member export from Kajabi. We clean it and set up a hidden "Existing members" option on Whop: free claim links for one-time buyers, and for subscribers who can't move with Whop's Stripe migration, a plan with a free trial that lines up their first Whop charge with their next Kajabi renewal. Whop's API can't add members directly, so members claim access from the link you send.

  • Community

    Moves

We create Whop Forums and Chat with a pinned welcome post. Old posts and comments don't move, because Whop's API would post them as you, dated today.

  • Paying subscribers

    Depends

If you take payments with your own Stripe account, Whop's Stripe migration can move active subscriptions with their renewal dates. Kajabi Payments subscriptions can't be transferred, so those members re-subscribe on Whop.

Guided:
you confirm or paste it in the wizard, and we create it on Whop.
From your export:
imported from the export file Kajabi gives you.

Before you start

How to export your Kajabi data

  1. 1Contacts → select all → Bulk Actions → Export (Kajabi emails you a CSV)
  2. 2Sales → Subscriptions → More Actions → Export Subscriptions (includes next payment date and provider)
  3. 3Sales → Pricing → an offer → Export (who bought which offer)

Kajabi's export links expire after 3 days.

Optional: instead of the export, connect a read-only Kajabi API key (beta). Kajabi's public API is available on the Pro plan. The key is used once to read your products and courses, and we suggest revoking it after the move.

Why Kajabi creators are planning an exit in 2026

Kajabi's price increase reached existing accounts this year. Kajabi's own notice says legacy plans moved to the new prices from the first bill on or after January 13, 2026, with Founder and Beta Invite plans exempt. An archived copy of the pricing page from September 16, 2025 shows the old monthly prices: Basic $149, Growth $199 and Pro $399. Today they are $179, $249 and $499.

Current plans also carry a fee of 2% (Basic), 1% (Growth) or 0.5% (Pro) on sales you process through your own Stripe account or another third-party processor. PayPal is exempt, and Kajabi says legacy plans don't pay it. On a current plan, the cheapest way to take payments is Kajabi Payments, and that choice matters when you leave, because Kajabi Payments subscribers are the hardest members to move. Our Kajabi pricing breakdown lists every plan and fee. This page is the exit plan: what moves, in what order, and how to keep your paying members.

What moves from Kajabi to Whop

Everything Kajabi lets you export can move. Most of the tools you built inside Kajabi can't, and how your subscribers move depends on which processor bills them. The migration table on this page shows the support level for each asset; here is what each one means for a Kajabi account.

Contacts and customers

Kajabi emails your contact list as a CSV to the address on your Kajabi account. The download link expires after 3 days, and the file is capped at your plan's contact limit (2,500 on Basic, 25,000 on Growth, 100,000 on Pro). Two more exports matter for paying members. The Subscriptions export lists each subscriber's amount, interval, status, next payment date and the provider that bills them. The purchase report for each offer shows who bought what. Our Kajabi export walkthrough covers every file and the menus to find them.

The wizard imports members from those files. Whop's API can't add a member to a product on your behalf, so nobody is enrolled silently. Each member claims access through a private link we set up for them.

Offers become Whop products and plans

Each Kajabi offer becomes a Whop product with a price plan. A one-time offer maps to a one-time plan. A monthly or yearly subscription maps to a recurring plan with the same billing period, and Whop plans support setup fees and free trials if your offer used them. You confirm each product in the wizard, which prefills what it can, and we create them through Whop's official API.

Payment-plan offers (for example three payments of $199) need a decision before you move: let the remaining installments finish on Kajabi, or end them and give those buyers free access on Whop.

Courses

Kajabi has no full course export. Its help center says you can export a course template, which is a layout file for re-importing into Kajabi, and that product properties and content need a manual backup. In the wizard you paste your outline (modules, lessons, lesson text) and we create the Whop Courses structure with chapters, lessons, text, and YouTube or Loom embeds. If you're on Kajabi Pro, you can also connect a read-only API key (beta) as an alternative to uploading files.

Video files don't transfer automatically. Kajabi lets you download each uploaded video from its lesson (Video Actions, then Download Video), one lesson at a time. Re-upload those files in Whop, or host them as unlisted YouTube videos or on Loom and embed them.

Community

We create Whop Forums and Chat for you, with a pinned welcome post. Your old Kajabi posts and comments stay behind. Kajabi's help center lists no export for community posts, and Whop's API posts as you, dated today. Copy or screenshot any threads worth keeping.

Payments

The Provider column in your Subscriptions export splits your members into two groups.

  • Members billed through your own connected Stripe account have real Stripe subscriptions. Whop Migrations (Dashboard, then Settings, then Migrations) moves active and trialing card subscriptions of $1 or more that have an email address, and keeps each renewal date. Whop then sets the Stripe subscriptions to cancel at the end of their current period. Subscriptions paid with Stripe Link, ACH or SEPA don't qualify.
  • Members billed through Kajabi Payments or PayPal re-subscribe on Whop. Kajabi Payments keeps the cards on Kajabi's side, and Kajabi's help center documents moving Stripe subscriptions into Kajabi Payments but no route out. PayPal subscriptions live in PayPal, and Whop Migrations only reads Stripe. We create a matching plan with a free trial that ends on each member's next Kajabi renewal, so their first Whop charge lands when Kajabi's would have.

If you moved your Stripe subscribers into Kajabi Payments to avoid the new third-party fee, they are now in the second group. The guide to moving subscriptions onto Whop covers both paths in more depth.

How the switch works, step by step

Build on Whop first, move members second and cancel Kajabi last. In that order nobody loses access and nobody pays twice.

  1. Export from Kajabi in one sitting: contacts, subscriptions, payment plans and a purchase report for each offer, plus your original video files.
  2. Run the files through our member CSV converter, which turns a Kajabi export into a clean, Whop-ready member list right in your browser.
  3. Create your Whop and connect it to the free migration wizard with Whop's official "Sign in with Whop". We never ask for your Kajabi password.
  4. Confirm one Whop product per Kajabi offer, at the same prices and billing periods.
  5. Rebuild each course from your outline, then upload or embed the videos lesson by lesson.
  6. Open your Forums and Chat, and pin a welcome post explaining where things moved.
  7. Run Whop Migrations for Stripe subscribers, then send claim links to one-time buyers and re-subscribe links to Kajabi Payments and PayPal subscribers.
  8. As each member lands on Whop, end their Kajabi subscription at the close of their current billing period. Cancel your Kajabi plan last.

How to keep members and avoid double billing

For Kajabi Payments members, line up the Whop trial with the Kajabi renewal, then set the Kajabi subscription to end at the close of the period. Here is how that plays out for one member.

Say a member pays $49 on the 15th of each month through Kajabi Payments. You send them a link to a hidden Whop plan whose free trial ends on the 15th. They join on the 3rd. In Kajabi you open Sales, then Payments, then Subscriptions, choose Cancel Payments from the menu next to their subscription and pick "End of the Current Billing Period". They keep Kajabi access until the 15th, and Whop charges them $49 on the 15th, so they pay once and never lose access.

Give everyone a deadline a few days before their renewal, and remind them a week out and the day before. If someone misses it, you can let Kajabi renew them for one more cycle rather than cut off a paying member. Kajabi keeps billing customer subscriptions until you cancel them, even after you close your own account, so track who has moved in a spreadsheet. More announcement and reminder versions are in our migration email templates. Here is a short one for Kajabi members:

Subject: [Community name] is moving to Whop on [date]

Hi [first name], we're moving [community or course name] from Kajabi to Whop on [date], and your membership comes with you. Open your private link and sign in to Whop with this email address: [link].

If you're a monthly member, your price stays at $[price] and your next payment stays on [next payment date]. You'll add your card on Whop now, nothing is charged until that date, and we'll stop your Kajabi billing so you're never charged twice. If you bought the course outright, your access is free, the same as before.

Your Kajabi login keeps working until [date]. Reply to this email if anything looks wrong.

Kajabi vs Whop fees at your revenue

Whop costs less than Kajabi Growth at all three revenue levels below, mostly because Whop has no plan fee. The table assumes a $49 monthly membership, US cards, Kajabi billed monthly through Kajabi Payments, and no add-ons, payout fees or currency conversion.

Prices as of October 2026. Sources at the end of this page.

Monthly revenue ($49 members)Whop feesKajabi Growth, plan plus feesDifference per year
$1,000 (about 20 charges)$38$290$3,024
$10,000 (about 204 charges)$381$660$3,348
$50,000 (about 1,020 charges)$1,906$2,305$4,788

Whop's monthly cost is revenue × 3.2% + charges × $0.30, where 3.2% is the 2.7% card rate plus 0.5% billing on recurring charges. Kajabi Growth's is $249 + revenue × 3.5% + charges × $0.30, where 3.5% is the 2.8% Growth card rate plus 0.7% on subscription charges. Against Basic the yearly gap is $2,196 to $4,548, and against Pro it's $6,012 to $7,188. Billing Kajabi yearly shrinks each gap by $432 (Basic), $600 (Growth) or $1,200 (Pro) a year.

These numbers leave out Whop's fraud-screening fee of $0.07 per transaction, about $14 a month at the $10,000 level. Plug in your own price and volume with the Kajabi vs Whop fee calculator, or read every Whop fee explained.

What you'll rebuild by hand

Anything Kajabi doesn't export has to be rebuilt or replaced. Plan the replacements before you announce the move.

Email sequences and funnels take the longest to rebuild, because Kajabi doesn't export them. If you send weekly broadcasts and run automated funnels, list every sequence and page before you announce the move.

Should you switch from Kajabi to Whop?

Switch if most of what you pay Kajabi for is checkout, course hosting and a community. Stay if your sales depend on Kajabi email sequences and funnels you can't afford to rebuild right now.

Switching makes sense when:

  • you use Kajabi mainly for courses, memberships and a community, and its email and funnel tools are a small part of your week;
  • most of your subscribers are on your own Stripe, so Whop Migrations can move them without anyone re-entering a card;
  • the January 2026 repricing made the plan fee a large share of your monthly revenue.

Stay on Kajabi when:

  • your sales depend on Kajabi's email automations, funnels and landing pages, and rebuilding them by hand isn't worth the savings yet;
  • most members pay through Kajabi Payments and your audience is likely to drop off if asked to enter a card again;
  • you rely on the branded mobile app that comes with Kajabi Pro;
  • you're on a Founder or Beta Invite plan that kept its old price.

Our side-by-side Whop vs Kajabi comparison goes feature by feature. If you're not sure Whop is the right destination, see Kajabi alternatives ranked by yearly cost and the Kajabi, Skool and Whop three-way comparison.

After the move: launch checklist

Test everything as a member before you send the announcement, then work through the rest before you cancel Kajabi.

  • Buy your own product through a Whop checkout link with a real card, then refund it.
  • Open a claim link as a test member and check that the right course, Forums and Chat appear.
  • Check that a sample subscriber's trial ends on the same date as their Kajabi Next Payment Date.
  • Set up Whop payouts and identity verification, and apply for higher checkout limits if any product costs more than $2,500.
  • Expect that Whop can hold part of a new account's balance in reserve, and keep a cash buffer for your first weeks.
  • Update the links in your bio, email footers, video descriptions and ads.
  • Point your old domain or Kajabi links at your Whop page, because Kajabi disconnects custom domains when you cancel.

When the last member is across, follow our Kajabi cancellation checklist so nothing keeps billing after you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Can Whop import my Kajabi members automatically?

Not directly. Whop's API has no way to create a membership for someone, so nobody gets enrolled without acting. We build the member list from your Kajabi exports, then each person opens a private link and signs in to Whop. One-time buyers claim free access; subscribers join a matching plan whose free trial ends on their next Kajabi renewal date.

Will my Kajabi Payments subscribers have to re-enter their card?

Yes, in practice. Kajabi Payments runs on Kajabi's own processor, and Kajabi's help center documents moving Stripe subscriptions into Kajabi Payments but no way to move cards or subscriptions out. Those members enter a card on Whop once. The free trial we set up means their first Whop charge lands on the day Kajabi would have charged them.

Do I need Kajabi's Pro plan to use the migration tool?

No. Every Kajabi plan can export contacts, subscriptions, payment plans and offer purchases as CSV files, and the wizard works from those. If you're on Pro ($499 a month), you can also connect a read-only Kajabi API key instead, which is in beta. Delete or rotate the key in Kajabi's Public API settings once the migration is done.

Can I move my Kajabi website and blog to Whop?

Not automatically. Kajabi's help center says blog posts can't be exported, and its landing page exports only re-import into another Kajabi site. Copy the posts and page text you want to keep into documents before you cancel. Whop Websites can build and host a new site for you, or you can keep your own site and link it to your Whop checkout.

How long should I keep Kajabi after moving to Whop?

Keep it until every paying member has either joined Whop or had their Kajabi subscription set to end. For monthly members that usually means one full billing cycle after you announce the move. Annual subscribers renew later, so check the Next Payment Date column in your Subscriptions export before you pick a cancellation date.

What happens to my Kajabi coupons and affiliates?

Neither moves. Kajabi's exports don't include coupon definitions, so recreate each code as a Whop promo code with the same discount. Kajabi's affiliate program (Growth and Pro plans) has no transfer either. Set up Whop's affiliate program, where you choose the commission rate, and send your affiliates their new links before you turn off the old ones.
