How much does Whop take per sale?
Whop takes 2.7% + $0.30 from every successful payment made with a US card or wallet, according to its fee page (checked October 3, 2026). There's no monthly plan to buy, and Whop's pricing page lists no setup fee.
Three add-ons can sit on top of that rate, each marked "when enabled": billing at 0.5% (subscription invoices and payment retries), orchestration at 0.8% (routing payments across several processors) and tax and remittance at 2% (only when Whop collects tax for you). With all three on and tax collected, Whop's own table puts a domestic card payment at 6% + $0.30.
For a normal subscription, plan around 3.2% + $0.30 per charge: the card rate plus billing. That's the default in our Whop fee calculator and in every example below. Whop says its schedule applies to new merchants signing up today, and high-volume businesses can ask for custom rates. Its October 2025 launch post said enterprise pricing goes as low as 2.5% + $0.30.

| Payout: bank wire | $23.00 | Wire transfer | Yes | Fee page |
| Payout: international local bank | Varies by country | Outside the US | n/a | Fee page |
Two notes on that table. Whop's own pages disagree on ACH: the fee page says 1.5% (max $5), while the Local Payment Methods article says 0.8% (cap $5). And Whop doesn't say whether Radar's $0.07 runs on every payment, so our fee calculator leaves it out. If it does apply to every charge, add $0.07 per charge: about $14 a month at $10,000 in $49 sales.
We also count the 0.5% billing fee on every subscription charge, even though Whop labels it "when enabled". Whop's API describes that fee line as "charged on recurring billing," and its Stripe-migration announcement lists 0.5% subscription billing as part of its subscription pricing. If billing is off on your account, your cost is lower than our numbers.
What Whop costs at $1,000, $10,000 and $50,000 a month
On a $49 monthly membership paid with US cards, Whop takes about 3.8% of revenue: $38 at $1,000 a month, $381 at $10,000 and $1,906 at $50,000.
These numbers assume US domestic cards, a $49 membership billed monthly, billing on, orchestration and tax service off, no currency conversion and no payout fees. The formula:
Monthly Whop fees = revenue × 3.2% + $0.30 × (revenue ÷ $49)
Fees as of October 2026. Sources at the end of this page.
| Monthly revenue | Charges at $49 | Whop fees | Effective rate | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | 20 | $38 | 3.8% | $962 |
| $10,000 | 204 | $381 | 3.8% | $9,619 |
| $50,000 | 1,020 | $1,906 | 3.8% | $48,094 |
If Radar applies to every charge, those totals become $40, $396 and $1,978. Annual billing trims the fixed part: a $490-a-year plan pays $15.98 in fees once, while twelve $49 monthly charges pay $22.42.
More worked examples
The same rates produce very different percentages depending on what you sell, who buys it and how you withdraw.
A $497 course sold 20 times
One-time sales skip the billing fee, so each sale costs 2.7% × $497 + $0.30 = $13.72. Twenty sales ($9,940) cost $274 in fees, or 2.8%. If three of those buyers paid with Klarna or Afterpay, those three sales would cost 15% each ($74.55), and the month would cost $457 instead.
The $10,000 membership with 30% international buyers
International cards add 1.5%, and Whop's adaptive pricing page shows the 1% conversion fee as well when a foreign buyer pays a US dollar price. On $3,000 of international sales that's 2.5% × $3,000 = $75, so the month costs $456 instead of $381. Adaptive pricing would bill those buyers in their own currency at the domestic rate, but it only works on one-time links, not subscriptions.
Getting $9,619 out of Whop
At $10,000 a month you keep $9,619 before payouts. One next-day ACH payout costs $2.50, and four weekly ones cost $10. Instant bank deposit (4% + $1) on the same amount costs $386, and a crypto or Venmo payout (5% + $1) costs $482. Whop says sale proceeds become withdrawable in 1 to 4 business days and standard payouts take up to 5 business days, though its payout troubleshooting page tells you to allow up to 10.
Why cheaper products pay a higher percentage
The $0.30 is fixed, so it weighs more on small charges. Here's the subscription rate (3.2% + $0.30) at common price points.
Fees as of October 2026. Sources at the end of this page.
| Price per charge | Whop fee | Share of the price |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.62 | 6.2% |
| $29 | $1.23 | 4.2% |
| $49 | $1.87 | 3.8% |
| $99 | $3.47 | 3.5% |
| $199 | $6.67 | 3.4% |
Why some sites say Whop costs about 7%
Whop's base cost on a domestic subscription is 3.2% + $0.30, or 3.8% on a $49 charge. Figures near 7% come from adding fees that don't apply to every sale:
- Every add-on switched on. Whop's own table shows 6% + $0.30 with orchestration, billing and tax collection all enabled. That's $3.24, or 6.6%, on a $49 charge.
- The old Discord and Telegram fee. Archived copies of Whop's fee page from September 12, 2025 to December 11, 2025 list a 3% "Whop platform fee" applied to purchases with Discord, Telegram and TradingView automations. The February 15, 2026 copy no longer lists it, and neither does the live page. Some guides still add it: drry.com's Whop pricing guide, updated September 27, 2026, reaches 5.7% + $0.30 for app-gated products that way.
- International buyers. A foreign card plus conversion adds 2.5%, so a $49 subscription charge costs $3.09, or 6.3%.
- Small prices. On a $10 subscription, the fixed $0.30 alone pushes the fee to 6.2%.
If you sell Discord- or Telegram-gated access, check the fees on your first few payments in your dashboard. Third-party guides still disagree about the 3% line, and your own payment details will show quickly whether anything beyond the published rates applies to your account.
Whop marketplace fees: what Discover sales cost
Whop takes no marketplace commission on Discover sales. On May 12, 2025, Whop announced that the 30% fee it charged when buyers found a whop through Discover had dropped to 0%, and that marketplace approval had become instant.
Discover sales still pay normal processing. Two things can add to them:
- Affiliates. Whop's global affiliates can promote listed products, and the default commission is 30% of each sale they refer. You can change that rate under Marketing → Affiliates. Affiliate-referred sales also carry the 1.25% affiliate processing fee, and affiliates are paid after a 30-day wait.
- Tax. On Discover sales, Whop calculates, collects and remits sales tax or VAT in the places where it's registered, including US sales tax since March 1, 2026, whichever tax option you chose for your direct sales.
One caveat: Whop's API defines a per-account "marketplace" fee line, "charged on payments attributed to the Whop marketplace," and doesn't publish a rate for it. The published schedule says 0%, so treat that as the rate and confirm it on your first Discover sale.
Fees you can avoid or switch off
Most of Whop's extras are either opt-in or avoidable with a setting:
- Leave orchestration off unless it pays for itself. Whop says routing across several processors lifts revenue by about 6%. That's Whop's figure, so compare your approval rate before and after.
- Skip the 2% tax service if you or your accountant already handle sales tax and VAT. Choosing "I'll handle tax myself" carries no Whop fee, but every registration and filing is then yours.
- Turn on adaptive pricing ("Accept local currency payments") for one-time links. Foreign buyers pay in their own currency at the domestic rate, and Whop charges sellers nothing extra for it.
- Withdraw by next-day ACH ($2.50) rather than instant deposit (4% + $1), or set automatic withdrawals so you aren't tempted to pay for speed.
- Send buyers to web checkout links instead of the Whop iOS app. Apple processes one-time purchases under $700 made in the app, so Whop raises those prices by 42.86% to cover Apple's 30%, and Apple can take up to 75 days to pay out. Subscriptions and one-time purchases of $700 or more already go through web checkout.
- Offer financing only where it lifts sales enough to cover 15%. It works on one-time prices only.
- Sell annual plans where they fit. You pay the $0.30 once a year instead of twelve times.
How Whop's fees compare with other platforms
At $10,000 a month in $49 memberships, Whop's fees ($381) come in below every platform in this table, with Stripe direct ($421), Stan Store ($430) and Skool Pro ($450) closest.
Prices as of October 2026, from each company's public pricing and help pages. Plans change, so check before you buy.
| Platform and plan (billed monthly) | Plan price | Fees per US card charge | Total at $10,000/mo | Full comparison |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whop | $0 | 2.7% + 0.5% billing + $0.30 | $381 | You're here |
| Stripe, used directly | $0 | 2.9% + 0.7% Billing + $0.30 | $421 | Whop vs Stripe |
| Stan Store Creator | $29 | 2.9% + 0.5% recurring + $0.30 (Stripe) | $430 | Whop vs Stan Store |
| Skool Pro | $99 | 2.9% + $0.30 | $450 | Whop vs Skool |
| Kajabi Basic | $179 | 2.9% + 0.7% + $0.30 (Kajabi Payments) | $600 | Whop vs Kajabi |
| Circle Professional | $99 | 2% + Stripe 2.9% + 0.7% + $0.30 | $720 | Whop vs Circle |
| LaunchPass Premium | $29 | 3.5% + Stripe 2.9% + $0.30 | $730 | Whop vs LaunchPass |
| Skool Hobby | $9 | 10% + $0.30 | $1,070 | Skool pricing explained |
| Patreon (standard plan) | $0 | 10% + 2.9% + $0.30 | $1,351 | Whop vs Patreon |
| Gumroad | $0 | 10% + $0.50 + 2.9% + $0.30 | $1,453 | Whop vs Gumroad |
The totals use the same assumptions as the examples above (204 charges of $49, US cards, no payout fees) and include the plan price. Each competitor's rate comes from the pricing and help pages listed at the end of this page.
Whop isn't the cheapest at every size. Skool Pro's lower percentage overtakes Whop's at about $33,000 a month on $49 charges, or about $22,000 if Radar's $0.07 applies to every Whop charge. At $50,000 a month, Skool Pro costs $1,855 and Whop $1,906. Stripe used directly gives you payments only, so you'd still need your own course, community and access tools. LaunchPass runs on your own Stripe account and doesn't list Stripe Billing's 0.7% on its help pages, so we haven't added it.
How Whop's fees have changed
Whop's published fees have changed several times since May 2025. Every entry below comes from Whop's own announcements or archived copies of its fee page, so there may be smaller changes we can't date.
- May 12, 2025: Whop announced it had cut its 30% Discover marketplace fee to 0% (Whop blog).
- September 12 to December 11, 2025: archived copies of the fee page list the 3% "Whop platform fee" on purchases with Discord, Telegram and TradingView automations, and tax and remittance at 0.5%.
- February 15, 2026: the archived fee page no longer lists the 3% platform fee. Tax and remittance is still 0.5%.
- June 26, 2026: Whop launched Whop Tax Service, whose two managed tax options cost 2% per transaction (Whop blog).
- September 29, 2026 archive and the live page on October 3, 2026: tax and remittance at 2%, billing labeled "when enabled", and a new "everything enabled, tax collected" line of 6% + $0.30 (archive).
Whop's Seller Terms say fees may change "with advance notice," so recheck the fee page before you lock in pricing.
Refunds, disputes, reserves and taxes
These costs don't show up on every sale, but you should know them before you launch:
- Refunds cost nothing extra, but Whop keeps its fees. Whop's own example is a $100 payment that netted the seller about $97 and is refunded at the full $100.
- A dispute triggers an immediate debit of the disputed amount plus a $15 fee. Whop returns the disputed amount if you win. You get 7 to 21 days to respond, and the card issuer usually decides within 60 to 75 days.
- Early dispute alerts cost $29 each. New accounts automatically refund alerts under $500 until they build a payment history.
- A reserve isn't a fee, but it delays your money. Whop's reserve example holds 10% of each sale for 90 days. New businesses can also accept a 60-day reserve to get checkout links above the default $2,500 cap.
- Accounts with high dispute rates can be charged an extra "high-risk processing fee" on card payments while payment controls are active. Whop doesn't publish the rate.
- For direct sales you choose how tax works: Whop calculates and collects while you remit (2%), Whop collects and remits in the US, EU and UK (2%), or you handle tax yourself at no Whop fee.
This page explains published fees. It isn't financial or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Whop take from each sale?
Whop takes 2.7% + $0.30 from each successful payment made with a US card, according to its fee page on October 3, 2026. Subscription charges usually add the 0.5% billing fee, so a $49 monthly membership costs about $1.87 per charge. International cards add 1.5%, currency conversion adds 1%, and Whop lists a $0.07 Radar fraud-screening fee per transaction.
Does Whop charge a monthly fee?
No. Whop doesn't sell subscription plans. Its pricing page describes standard pricing as pay-as-you-go with no setup fee and no monthly cost, so you pay only when you make a sale or withdraw money. Businesses with high volume can ask Whop's sales team for custom, country-specific rates instead of the published schedule.
Does Whop still charge 3% on Discord and Telegram sales?
Not according to its published fees. Archived copies of Whop's fee page from September to December 2025 list a 3% platform fee on purchases with Discord, Telegram or TradingView automations. The February 15, 2026 copy and the live page on October 3, 2026 don't list it. Some third-party guides still include it, so check the fees on your first gated sale.
What does Whop charge on marketplace sales?
Whop takes no marketplace commission on sales that come through Discover, down from 30% before May 12, 2025. You still pay normal processing, 2.7% + $0.30 per US card payment. If a Whop affiliate referred the buyer, you also pay that affiliate's commission, which defaults to 30% for global affiliates, plus Whop's 1.25% affiliate processing fee.
How much does it cost to withdraw money from Whop?
Next-day ACH to a US bank costs $2.50 per payout. Instant bank deposit costs 4% + $1, crypto and Venmo payouts cost 5% + $1, and a bank wire costs $23. Local bank transfers outside the US vary by country. Whop's minimum withdrawal is $10, and you have to finish identity verification before your first payout.
Does Whop give back its fees when I refund a customer?
No. Whop doesn't charge anything extra to process a refund, but you refund the full amount the customer paid, not the amount you received after fees. Whop's own example is a $100 payment that netted the seller about $97 and is refunded in full at $100. Refunds still cost less than disputes, which carry a $15 fee each.
Is Whop cheaper than Stripe?
On standard US pricing, slightly. Whop charges 2.7% + $0.30 per card payment and 0.5% for subscription billing, while Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 and 0.7% for Stripe Billing. Whop also lists a $0.07 Radar fee per transaction. On a $49 subscription that's about $1.94 on Whop versus $2.06 on Stripe, but Stripe alone gives you no courses, community or member access tools.
