How to Sell on Whop: Set Up Your First Sale, Step by Step

By MoveToWhopUpdated 10 min readPricing verified

Quick answer

To sell on Whop, create a whop at whop.com/sell, add a product with a price (free, one-time or recurring), attach the apps buyers get, such as Courses or Chat, and share its checkout link. Then set up Whop Payments with your ID and bank details so you can withdraw. There's no monthly fee, and a US card sale costs 2.7% + $0.30 (October 2026).

Before you start

This checklist takes you from no account to a working checkout link, following the steps in Whop's help center as of October 3, 2026. If you're still deciding whether Whop fits, read what Whop is and how it works first. If you already sell on another platform, skip to the last section, because most of this setup can be done for you.

You don't need to write code. Have these ready:

  • An email address for your Whop account
  • An offer Whop allows. Its prohibited list includes adult content, prop trading firms, debt services and legal or medical services, and its Seller Terms ban "lifetime" or indefinite-access offers.
  • Your ID and a bank account in your country's local currency, for payout verification
  • Your Terms of Service and return policy
  • A banner image, a product description and your prices
  • Your highest price. Checkout links above $2,500 need Whop's approval first.

Step 1: Create your whop

Your whop is your business on Whop: the store page buyers see and the hub members log into.

  1. Go to whop.com/sell and select Start selling (Whop's Create a Whop guide shows the same flow).
  2. Choose how you'll use Whop. Pick Build & sell digital products on Whop if you want Courses, Chat or any other Whop app. Pick Use Whop for payment processing only if you deliver your product somewhere else and just want checkout links.
  3. Select Next, name your business and select Create my business. You can change the name later.

Step 2: Create a product

A product is what someone buys. It sets the price and decides which apps the buyer gets.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Products → Create product.
  2. Enter a name and a headline, each up to 80 characters, and add a banner image.
  3. Choose free, one-time or subscription pricing, enter the price and currency, and pick which payment methods checkout shows.
  4. Select Next and add the apps buyers get. If you only take payments and deliver elsewhere, you can skip apps.
  5. Add a photo or video and a description, then select Create.

Write the description as if a reviewer will read it, because one will. Whop says a detailed product page helps it approve your business for financing and higher checkout links.

One common mistake: calling a one-time product "lifetime access." Whop's pricing help still describes one-time pricing that way, but its Seller Terms ban lifetime or indefinite-access offers. State an access period instead, and use Auto-expire access to enforce it.

Step 3: Add pricing options

Each pricing option (Whop's API calls it a plan or variant) is a different way to buy the same product, with its own checkout link.

  • Select Add another billing period to sell, say, $49 a month and $490 a year side by side.
  • Free trials work only on recurring prices. Pick the number of days, and Whop charges full price when the trial ends.
  • An initial fee adds a one-time setup charge to the first subscription payment.
  • Split payments turn a price into fixed installments, such as $250 a month for 4 months on a $1,000 program. You receive each installment as it's paid, while financing through Klarna or Afterpay pays you up front.
  • Advanced options cover stock limits, waitlists (buyers enter card details and aren't charged until you approve them), questions before checkout, auto-expiring access and a redirect after checkout.
  • A cancellation discount offers a deal when a subscriber tries to cancel.

Start with one product and add tiers later. Whop's docs say most of the largest communities on the platform run a free product plus a paid one.

Step 4: Attach the apps buyers get

Apps are what members actually use, and each product switches on its own set.

  1. Inside your whop, select Add app to open the Whop App Store.
  2. Add what you need: Courses, Chat, Forums, Events, Content, Files, Calendar Bookings, Discord or Telegram. You can add the same app more than once, for example a separate chat for each topic.
  3. Open each product and toggle on the apps it includes and toggle off the rest.

Setting up a course

Add the Courses app, select Begin setup, then Add module. Modules hold chapters, and chapters hold lessons. A lesson can be a video, text, a PDF or download, an ungraded quiz, a graded test or a mix. In each module's settings you can require lessons in order, watermark videos, issue completion certificates and choose the caption language.

Selling downloads

The Files app shares templates, e-books and other digital assets, and you can also attach files to course lessons. Sell them with a one-time price.

Discord or Telegram access

The Discord app sells server access with automatic role management, and the Telegram app sells access to a Telegram group. For Discord, buyers link their account under Social accounts, then open the Discord app in your whop and select Claim Access. Our paid Discord server guide covers roles and fees in more detail.

A checkout link sends buyers straight to a payment page for one product and price.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Checkout links and select + Create checkout link.
  2. Choose the product, then Free, One-time or Recurring, and set the price.
  3. Choose payment methods. One-time links can offer card, ACH, PayPal, crypto and financing. Recurring links offer card and PayPal.
  4. Under Advanced options, leave Show on store page unchecked if the link is private, such as a one-off client offer.
  5. On one-time links, switch on Accept local currency payments (adaptive pricing) so buyers abroad pay in their own currency at the domestic rate.

New accounts can't create checkout links above $2,500. To sell above that, apply for higher checkout links under Settings → Payments. Whop says it reviews applications within 24 hours, and a new business without sales history can accept a 60-day reserve instead.

You can also put checkout on a website. Whop hosts sites at a whop.site address that you can start from a blueprint, describe to Whop's AI, build with code or copy from a site you already run (Whop Websites).

A US card sale costs 2.7% + $0.30, plus 0.5% on subscription charges. Our page on every Whop fee covers international cards, financing and payouts.

Step 6: Set up Whop Payments and payouts

You can take orders before this step, but you can't withdraw until it's done.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Balances and select Set up Whop Payments.
  2. Select your country so payouts arrive in your local currency.
  3. Complete KYC: fill in your details, link your bank and upload your ID.
  4. Add a payout method and choose a schedule. Automatic withdrawals let you keep a minimum balance on hand for refunds.

Sale proceeds become withdrawable in 1 to 4 business days, and the minimum withdrawal is $10. Next-day ACH costs $2.50 per payout, instant bank deposit 4% + $1, crypto or Venmo 5% + $1, and a wire $23.

One common mistake: adding a bank account in a different currency from your registered country. Whop converts payouts to your country's local currency, and a mismatched account is one of the failure reasons Whop lists. If you want PayPal sales paid straight to PayPal, or crypto sales to Coinbase, link them under Balances → Additional payment methods.

Step 7: Protect yourself before the first sale

A few settings here head off the problems sellers complain about most: disputes, reserves and confused buyers. Our Whop review explains why they matter.

  • Go to Dashboard → Settings → Legal, upload your Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Return Policy (and an EULA if you sell software), then switch on Require terms and conditions acceptance. Whop includes uploaded policies in your dispute evidence.
  • Go to Dashboard → Dispute fighter → Early dispute alert and set Refund transactions lower than. Each alert costs $29, and new accounts automatically refund alerts under $500.
  • Go to Dashboard → Resolution Center → Auto respond to refund small claims automatically, and answer other cases within 7 days.
  • Customize your billing descriptor in your dashboard settings so buyers recognize the charge.
  • Go to Dashboard → Marketing → Affiliates and set your rates. Global affiliates earn 30% by default once you're listed, and you can set a separate rate for members who refer.
  • Go to Marketing → Support chats and enable User joined to send new members a welcome DM and email with their next steps.

Step 8: Test, then launch

Check the buyer's view before anyone pays.

  1. On your whop's main page, use the Preview as menu to see exactly what each product's buyers get.
  2. Open each checkout link in a private browser window and check the price, billing period, trial and payment methods.
  3. Share your links in your bio, emails or community. Your whop also appears on Discover, Whop's marketplace, as soon as it's live.
  4. Create launch discounts under Marketing → Promo codes: a percentage or fixed amount, for one payment, several months or forever, with an expiry date and usage limit.

Check that everything works

Run through this list once before you announce:

  • Preview as shows each product with only the apps it should include.
  • Every checkout link shows the right price, billing period, trial and payment methods.
  • Whop Payments setup is complete and a payout method is saved.
  • Your terms and return policy are uploaded and acceptance is required.
  • Affiliate rates are what you intended.
  • Private links have Show on store page unchecked.

Bringing an existing business to Whop

If you already sell on Kajabi, Skool, Patreon or another platform, you don't have to rebuild everything by hand.

The free Move to Whop migration tool connects with Sign in with Whop, so we never ask for your password. You confirm your products and prices in the wizard (prefilled where we can), and it creates them on Whop through Whop's official API. It builds your Courses structure from the outline you paste or import, with chapters, lessons, text and YouTube or Loom embeds, and creates Forums and Chat with a pinned welcome post.

Some things don't move on their own:

  • Course video files. Re-upload them in Whop or embed them from YouTube or Loom.
  • Old community posts and comments. Whop's API posts as you, dated today.
  • Members. Whop's API can't add members directly, so they claim access themselves through a hidden "Existing members" option: a free claim link for one-time buyers, and for subscribers a matching plan with a free trial that lines up their first Whop charge with their next renewal on the old platform.

Payments depend on where your subscriptions live. If they're in your own Stripe account, Whop Migrations (Settings → Migrations) moves active and trialing card subscriptions of $1 or more that have an email, keeps their renewal dates and sets the Stripe subscriptions to cancel at period end. If your old platform holds the billing, members re-subscribe. Our guide to moving paying subscribers to Whop covers both paths, and the member CSV converter cleans your export into a Whop-ready list. For platform-specific steps, see Kajabi to Whop or Skool to Whop.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to sell on Whop?

Nothing up front. Whop has no monthly or setup fee and takes 2.7% + $0.30 from each successful US card payment, plus 0.5% on subscription charges when billing is on, as of October 2026. International cards add 1.5%, and payouts cost from $2.50 for next-day ACH. On a $49 monthly membership, expect about $1.87 in fees per charge.

How long before I can withdraw my first sale?

Whop says sale proceeds become withdrawable in 1 to 4 business days once you've completed identity verification. Standard payouts take up to 5 business days to arrive, though Whop's troubleshooting page says to allow up to 10, while instant payouts arrive in minutes for 4% + $1. New accounts can also have part of each sale held in a reserve.

Can I sell digital downloads like PDFs or templates on Whop?

Yes. Add the Files app to share templates, e-books and other digital assets, or attach files and PDFs to lessons in the Courses app, then sell access with a one-time price. Buyers reach the files inside your whop after checkout. Just don't advertise it as lifetime access, because Whop's rules require you to state an access period.

Can I sell on Whop without using its apps or marketplace?

Yes. When you create your account, choose Use Whop for payment processing only. You then get checkout links for products you deliver elsewhere, and you can embed Whop's checkout on your own website. Leave Show on store page unchecked on a link if you only want people with the link to see that offer.

Do I need to verify my identity to sell on Whop?

Not to start. Whop's October 2025 launch post says you can begin selling without KYC, but you must complete identity verification, with your details, bank account and ID, before you can withdraw. Whop also checks what your business sells. If it can't verify that, it pauses payouts and asks for proof, so answer those requests quickly and completely.
