Kajabi Basic: Kajabi Payments, US rates: 0% Kajabi fee, card rate by plan, +0.7% on subscription and payment-plan charges, +1.5% for international cards. Connecting your own Stripe instead adds a 2% (Basic), 1% (Growth) or 0.5% (Pro) Kajabi fee on top of Stripe's rates.

Whop: No monthly fee. Whop Payments: 2.7% + $0.30 per charge, +0.5% billing on subscription charges, +1.5% for international cards and +1% when currency conversion applies. Optional: orchestration 0.8% and Whop Tax Service 2%. Whop lists Radar fraud screening ($0.07 per transaction) and 3D Secure ($0.03 when required) separately.

Prices as of Oct 2026. Assumes a US seller and US card rates. Totals are rounded to whole dollars. Sources: Kajabi pricing, Kajabi Payments fees (US), Whop fees.

How the calculator works

For each platform, the calculator adds up one month of fees at the same sales, average price and card mix, then puts the total next to Whop's:

monthly fees = plan price
  + sales × (platform % + card %)
  + subscription sales × subscription surcharge %
  + international sales × international-card surcharge %
+ (sales ÷ average price) × fixed fee per charge

The effective fee is monthly fees ÷ sales, and what you keep is sales minus fees. We round to whole dollars at the end, so a total can be $1 off the sum of its rows.

Whop has no plan price: 2.7% + $0.30 per US card charge, plus 0.5% billing on subscriptions and 1.5% on international cards. Orchestration (0.8%), Whop Tax Service (2%), Radar fraud screening ($0.07 per charge) and currency conversion (1%) stay off until you tick them under Fine-tune. Whop lists Radar per transaction, so tick it for the most conservative number. Every other line is in Whop fees explained.

Other platforms use US card rates on their default payment system, such as Kajabi Payments or SamPay; Skool and Hotmart charge one all-in fee. Where you bring your own Stripe account (Circle, Podia, Mighty Networks and others), we use Stripe's standard US pricing: 2.9% + $0.30, plus 1.5% for international cards. Surcharges a platform doesn't document are left out, and the notes under the results say which.

Until you pick a plan, we start with the platform's cheapest plan that can sell subscriptions at $10,000 a month, so the default comparison never flatters Whop.

Example calculations

Monthly memberships on US cards, plans billed monthly, no add-ons: the same assumptions as our Whop vs Kajabi and Whop vs Skool comparisons.

Skool Hobby at $1,000 a month

$29/mo membership, about 34 charges, US cards, plan billed monthly

Skool Hobby
$9 plan + 10% all-in ($100) + 34 × $0.30 ($10) = $119
Whop
2.7% card fee ($27) + 0.5% billing ($5) + 34 × $0.30 ($10) = $42

Whop costs $77 less a month, $924 a year.

Moving up to Skool Pro wouldn't help at this size: its $99 plan plus 2.9% comes to $138 a month.

Open this example in the calculator

Kajabi Growth at $10,000 a month

$49/mo membership, about 204 charges, US cards, plan billed monthly

Kajabi Growth
$249 plan + 2.8% card fee ($280) + 0.7% on subscriptions ($70) + 204 × $0.30 ($61) = $660
Whop
2.7% card fee ($270) + 0.5% billing ($50) + 204 × $0.30 ($61) = $381

Whop costs $279 less a month, $3,348 a year.

Billed yearly ($199/mo), Kajabi Growth comes to $610 and the gap narrows to $229 a month.

Open this example in the calculator

Skool Pro at $50,000 a month

$49/mo membership, about 1,020 charges, US cards, plan billed monthly

Skool Pro
$99 plan + 2.9% all-in ($1,450) + 1,020 × $0.30 ($306) = $1,855
Whop
2.7% card fee ($1,350) + 0.5% billing ($250) + 1,020 × $0.30 ($306) = $1,906

Whop costs $51 more a month, $612 a year.

Skool Pro's all-in 2.9% is below Whop's 3.2% on subscriptions, so its $99 plan pays for itself once subscription sales pass about $33,000 a month.

What the calculator leaves out

  • Sales tax, payout fees and disputes, which depend on your account. On Whop, a next-day ACH payout costs $2.50 and a dispute $15.
  • Marketplace cuts: Skool's Growth Boost (30-70% of recurring revenue from members Skool brings you), Gumroad Discover's 30% and iOS in-app purchases.
  • Kajabi's and Thinkific's extra fee when you use your own Stripe instead of their payment systems.
  • Mixed prices. One average charge stands in for your real mix, so fixed fees and price tiers can land differently.
  • Promotions, negotiated rates and legacy plans other than Patreon's.

This page explains published fees. It isn't financial or tax advice. Ready to compare more than fees? The free migration tool shows what moves from your platform before you commit to anything.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Whop charge per sale?

Whop has no monthly fee. A US card payment costs 2.7% + $0.30, subscription charges add 0.5% for billing, and international cards add 1.5%. A $49 monthly membership therefore costs about $1.87 per charge. Orchestration (0.8%) and Whop Tax Service (2%) cost extra only if you turn them on. Every line is on Whop's fee page.

Is Whop cheaper than Skool?

Usually, not always. Skool Hobby takes 10% + $0.30 per sale on top of $9 a month, so Whop costs less at any revenue. Skool Pro costs $99 a month plus an all-in 2.9% + $0.30, under Whop's 3.2% + $0.30 on subscriptions, so Pro gets cheaper once subscription sales pass about $33,000 a month. Our Whop vs Skool comparison covers the features too.

Why does the calculator sometimes show Whop costing more?

Because sometimes it does. A platform with a flat monthly fee and a lower card rate can undercut Whop's 3.2% subscription rate once your sales cover the plan fee. Skool Pro is the clearest case. Selling subscriptions on systeme.io's free plan through your own Stripe also comes out cheaper here, partly because systeme.io doesn't document a billing fee. We show those results rather than hide them.

How current are these prices?

We checked every plan price and fee on Oct 2, 2026 against each company's pricing page and help center, and rechecked Whop's and Stripe's fee pages on Oct 3. Prices move: Kajabi, Thinkific and Podia all raised plan prices in the past year. The sources table links the exact pages we used, so check them before you decide.
